Thomas-Labaille is an old school Sancerre master in the famous Sancerre Village of Chavignol. This wine is sourced from some of the oldest vines in Sancerre, around 80 years old and situated in the choicest site of the steep Monts Damnes (the "damned mountain") vineyard - the most famous and highly regarded Sauvignon Blanc vineyard in the world. Labaille’s 2023 offers complex aromas of quince, pink grapefruit, kiwi, oregano and limestone. The palate shows excellent balance with an intense mineral vein complementing the wine's almost perfect fruit expression and citrusy finish. It’s so refreshing as an aperitif and so versatile at the table. How about some oysters on the half shell or Dungeness crab? Maybe some halibut with beurre blanc sauce?
