The Cucco estate’s village-level Barolo comes primarily from 25-year-old Nebbiolo planted in the Bricco Voghera cru in the eastern stretches of Serralunga, augmented with 20- to 25-year-old vines from the lower slopes of the Cerrati cru, which abuts the eastern edge of the appellation. The combination of these two Crus creates a very cleanly articulated nose of rose, cherry, red dirt, and spice. A classically intense Serralunga structure presents on the palate, but it's well balanced with plenty of nebbiolo fruit to cut through the structure - a superb and highly enjoyable example of the incredible 2021 vintage that can be enjoyed in the near future with a quick decant or after 5-8 years in the cellar.
