Every now and then, we come across a local winery that catches our attention. There are over 1000 bonded wineries here in Oregon, so we can be pretty choosy about those that we want to feature and work with. This time, it’s not a winery that’s new to us, but rather an old favorite that we had lost touch with.  Walter Scott is not just one of Oregon’s top wineries, Walter Scott is one of the new world’s greatest wineries.  Many insiders and wine critics will tell you that Walter Scott issues some of the new world’s greatest Chardonnay, not to mention thrilling Pinot Noirs.

Walter Scott is a collaboration between husband and wife team Ken Pahlow (winemaker) and Erica Landon (Director of operations).  Ken Pahlow is just as serious about his world-class Chardonnay program as he is about his outstanding Pinot Noirs.  After working with such talents as Mark Vlossak, Issabelle Meunier and Dominque Lafon (yes, that Dominique Lafon), Ken has picked up a few things and coupled them with his own winemaking philosophy.  Ken's vision of great Chardonnay and Pinot Noir focuses on balance, precision, complexity and the ability to show a sense of place - AKA - terroir.  Mission accomplished!

The Walter Scott wines are simply beautiful. These are wines that offer pristine fruit, impeccable balance with layered and nuanced flavors that reflect their vineyard sites.
